The Special Olympics World Games will take place in Berlin from June 17 to 25. 7000 athletes with and without disabilities in 26 sports will make these games the biggest sporting event in Germany since the 1972 Olympic Games!
Our BASF TC is also represented. Christoph Trübenbach is a substitute player for the German team and will be there. Our coach Claus Majolk is the head coach of the German tennis team. The team consists of eleven athletes with disabilities, three unified partners without disabilities and six coaches/supervisors.
The team got to know each other at a training course at our facility in February and has grown together really well since then. The entire German delegation of almost 600 members will meet in Berlin on Wednesday and prepare for the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium and the competitions on site.
„Everyone is excited and tense. But we're looking forward to what's to come and there are sure to be many goosebump moments for us all,“ says Majolk, who is also looking forward to the games.
